Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali

Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you’ll be greeted by your guide and transferred to your hotel in Kigali, the capital city of Rwanda. Thus depending on your arrival time, you may have the opportunity to explore the city, visit local markets, or take a historical tour of the Kigali Genocide Memorial.

Day 2: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

After breakfast at the hotel, you’ll head out on a scenic drive to Volcanoes National Park, home to the rare and endangered mountain gorillas. Along the way, you’ll pass through picturesque countryside, terraced hills, and small villages. Once you reach the park, you’ll check into your lodge and have lunch. In the afternoon, you can explore the area or participate in cultural activities such as visiting the Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park

Today is the highlight of your safari as you embark on a gorilla trekking adventure. After an early breakfast, you’ll be briefed by your guide before setting out into the forest to track the gorillas. Once you’ve found a gorilla group, you’ll have an unforgettable hour observing and photographing these incredible creatures in their natural habitat. Afterward, you’ll return to your lodge for lunch and have the afternoon to relax or participate in optional activities.

Day 4: Transfer to Akagera National Park

After breakfast, you’ll say goodbye to Volcanoes National Park and head to Akagera National Park, Rwanda’s largest national park.  Furthermore, the drive offers stunning views of the countryside, rolling hills, and vast plains. Upon arrival at your lodge, you’ll check in and have lunch. In the afternoon, you’ll go on a game drive to explore the park and see wildlife such as elephants, buffalo, antelope, giraffe, and more.

Day 5: Wildlife Safari in Akagera National Park

Today, you’ll have a full day of game viewing in Akagera National Park. After breakfast, you’ll set out on a morning game drive to search for the park’s resident wildlife. Akagera is home to a variety of animals, including lions, leopards, hyenas, hippos, crocodiles, and a wide range of bird species. In the afternoon, you’ll enjoy a boat safari on Lake Ihema, where you’ll have the opportunity to see hippos, crocodiles, and water birds up close.

Day 6: Return to Kigali and Departure

After breakfast, you’ll check out of your lodge and depart Akagera National Park for Kigali. Upon arrival in Kigali, you’ll have lunch and then visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial, a sobering and educational experience that commemorates the 1994 genocide. Afterward, you’ll be transferred to Kigali International Airport for your departure.
